FLOATING S.S. WANAKA.
ATTEMPT TO BE MADE TO-MORROW. The Union s.s. Co's, Manawatu arrived t from Wanganui this (Saturday) morning, for the purpose of towing the stranded steamer Wanaka off the reef near Bell Block. The Manawatu went down the coast, and anchored close to the place where the Wanaka lies. It is expected that the attempt to float the steamer off will be mado to-morrow (Sunday) morning on the spring tide, which will be at flood between 8 and 0 o'clock. Should the attempt not bo made then, or should it not be successful if made, the operation will- take place on Monday morning'a tide. The floating plant in the strauded steamer has been arranged to the satisf action o£ Mr Daniels, tho Co.'s shipwright, who has superintended the operations, and the tests that havo been made lead one to tho belief that the floating of the steamer will be successfully accomplished." Obco floated Lhe Wanaka Avill be towed up to the breakwater, where she will be patched up, and afterwards towed to Wellington.
