FATAL ACCIDENT AT WAITARA.

In Saturday's issue it was chronicled that a young gentleman named Godfrey Saddler had died at Waitara from the effects produced by a kick from a horse. Further particulars to hand show that on Friday afternoon deceased and a son of Mr Halcoinbo, of Urenui, on whose farm deceased was a cadet, drove some prize cattle to Waitara railway station, where they wore put on the train to be sent to Patea. After completing this work deceased, in catching hia horse to mount, was kicked in tho abdomen by the animal, but he was not, to all appearances, seriously hurt, as he walked away, it is stated, for some distance afterwards. The effects of the kick, however, began to tell soon afterwards, and the young gentleman was obliged to remain at Waitara. He was put to i bed at the Masonic Hotel, and everything done for him that wt?s possible. He appeared to pass a good night. On Saturday morning Dr Leatham was telegraphed for, as deceased had become apparently worse, but before the doctor, who came out with all speed, could arrive from town, the deceased breathed his last about 11 o'clock. Owing to the cause of death being known, it was decided to dispense with an inquest. It is the medical opinion - that deceased died from internal bleeding from a rupture caused by the kick of the horse. At no time did the deceased complain of any great pain, and just half an hour before Dr. Leatham arrived he went off into a sound sleep, in which he died',- inasmuch as when the doctor Avent up to the room the unfortunate young fellow had breathed hia last. Every attention was .bestowed on the young man by members of Mr Pl'ilcombe's family, who came from Urenui on hearing of tho accident, and also by Mr and Mrs Box, of the Masonic Hotel. The body of the deceased was brought into town to day (Monday) for interment in Te Henui Cemetery.
