[from oub own cobbespondent.] ' Apbil 22. — The annual meeting for the election of the School Committee was held in the schoolroom on April 21st, as convened by the Board by advertisement before the first Monday in April, as required by " The School Committees' Election Act, 1890." Not many householders attended, but the nominations were duly posted on the school door, and although the school was locked access to the building was obtained, and after waiting some time for the Chairman of the late Committee to attend, the householders present proceeded to business. Mr James J. Elwin was elected to the chair, on the motion of Mr Corbett, seconded by Mr Burgess, and having explained the Act and the reason for the meeting, and having read the clauses bearing on the election, read the names of those who were duly nominated. The meeting then ballotted for members, with the result that Messrs Burgess, Corbett, Elwin, Volker, Murphy, Person, and Hickman were elected members of the Committee. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. At a meeting of the Warea School Committee, held on April 21st, subsequent to the election, Mr J. J. Elwin was, on the motion of Mr H. Corbett, seconded by Mr J. Burgess, elected chairman for the year. The Chairman was requested to meet the Board and endeavour to arrange for the school to be re-opened as soon as possible. Mr Pelharu applied_to the Committee for the uae of the schoolroom on Friday evening for a dance, under the auspices of the "Puniho Literary Institute." Granted, subject to the usual conditions. Mr H. Corbett was appointed to countersign cheques with »he chairman.
