Adelaide;, April 14. The police have made raid on several tobacconist shops in town where it is suspected gambling is carried on, and arrested thirty-five persons. Melbourne, April 14. It is estimated that the loss on the Victorian railways for the year ended 30th June, will amount to £300,000, which tlio commissioners partly attribute to the strike. llobaiit, April 14. A horrible murder is reported from Sandy Bay. A man named Quainby, in a fit of jealousy, cut off the head of a widow named Davidson with a carving knife, and then inflicted serious wounds on himself, which, it is believed, will prove fatal. The murder is surrounded with peculiar circumstances.
