DEATH THROUGH ALLEGED ' KEGLIGKNCE. Auckland, March 12. The death of the young woman, Lydia Baker, an inmate of the Costley Home, is said, on the authority of Dr. Scott, to have been accelerated by negligence. An inquest will be held to-morrow. Captain Fairchild reports that he called at the Antipodes and Bounty Islands, where he made a careful search, without finding any traces of the ?.s. Kakanui. He also called at the Ohathams, and found some more traces of the Assaye, which evidently drifted there from the Snares. CUrTEB BUN DGWS BY A bTFAMKR Kelson, March 12. While the 5.3. Charles Edward, on her way to Wanganni, wa3 going out of the harbor last night, in a thick fog, she ran down a small cutter laden with coal from Motupipi. There were three men on board ; two of them managed to scramble on board the steamer, but the third, Westrupp (master), jumped overboard, and was nevtr seen afterward?. Both vessels had all lights bnrning.
