Fuller particulars in our advertising columns. We have received from Messrs Wilson & Horton a copy of the Auckland Weekly Nevos almanac mounted for hanging up, and varnished. It speaks highly for the resources of the Auckland Herald printing establishment, and the efficiency of its employees to produce such an excellent piece of workmanship as this almanac undoubtedly is. A little eight year old son of Mr Larking, says the Patea Press, left home on Friday morning, and has not since been heard of. The last seen of the little chap was at about nine o'clock in the morning when he was going an errand between his brother's shop and his mother's cottage. He completed his errand, and there the veil drops. Not one word can be obtained from man, woman or child as to the boy's subsequent movements. He seems to have passed instantaneously into oblivion. Reports are .abroad as to his having been seen fishing at various places, but on following up the threads they are found virtually unreliable. The only one at all worthy of credence is that the little chap was seen near the Railway Wharf with other boys, but even here there seems' to be an unbridged gulf as no " other boys" can be found who spoke to or saw the little fellow' at all on the day in question. Certain it is that the boy. was in the habit of going fishing to all parts of the river, and this is the only clue, and it must be admitted a very dark one, to the : probable fate of the missing child. Every possible search has been made, but without obtaining the slightest information, and there seems nothing possible to be done but to wait for time to reveal the secret of his disapC ranee In the meanwhile, Mrs Larking i the sincerest sympathy of 'all in her present sad and anxious trouble. , Smoking has been declared to be injurious only when indulged in to excess,, and when inferior tobacco is used.
