Mr O'Connor informed Mr Smith, we hear, that at Westport they will have finished with the Government dredge in about three or four months' time, and he (Mr O'Connor) would.be prepared to support in the House any resolution to the effect that the Government should assist the New Plymouth Harbour Board by the loan of the dredge ; in fact, he seemed favourably inclined towards the work, and said he would aid the New Plymouth Harbour Board to the utmost of his ability. The annual general meeting of the Reading-rooin and Library subscribers was held in the Council Chambers at half -past 7 o'clock on Tuesday evening. Present : Messrs A. C. Fookes, B. Dockrill, B. Gr. Bauchope, C. W. Govett, C. E. Bellringer. and T. Hempton (hon. secretary). ' Mr Bauchope was voted to the chair.
