Sin,— TheNewPlyraonth School Committee are to be congratulated upon the stand which they have taken in connection with the selection of a teachor to fill the vacancy at the Central School. Experience and classification — though excellent things in their way — are not, however, the only essentials to enable this important school to show better results in the future, and 1 * I would venture to impress upon both the Committee and tho Board of Education the desirableness of securing the sorvicos of a teacher who is conversant with, and qualified to impart, the pure Caledonian dialect, which, of lute years, has become the standard of our language. When, for example, children are taught to write tho sound riid — in the old-fashioned spellings rudo or rood— instead of road, as it ought to be rendered, according to the improved method, is it matter for surprise that many of tho poor little folk fail to make a good record ? — I am, &c, _ A Parent.
