The Royal Society has awarded the Clarke medal for scientific research to Professor Hutton, of Christchurch.
Ibbot has successfully completed his long fast. He is emaciated and weak, but otherwise he appears to be well. On examining the kerosene bond, after the fire was subdued, the surprising discovery was made that, despite the intense heat, the inner layer had escaped damage. It is believed that some 4,000 cases will be saved.

The Eight Rev. G. H. Stanton, Bishop of Northern Queensland, has accepted the Bishopric of Newcastle. The Mount Morgan gold mine's last month's crushing produced from 6409 tons of stone 11,500 ounces.
