BAND OF HOPE PICNIC.
The Band of Hope Picnic, which eventuated on Thursday, after a postponement, was a success in every respect. The weather held up splendidly, and hundreds of adults and children filled the pretty picnic grounds at Bell Block. The children, who mustered in strong force, wore regaled with plenty of refreshments, and provided with innumerable games. The ladies who presided at the tables were Misses Bassett, Kenyon, Sole, Saddler, George, Putt, Okey and Smith, and Mesdames Mofflin, Devenish, Nixon, Phillips, Cliff, Fawcett, Moon, and Nichols. Mr Evetts did the catering in his usual excellent style. Several gentlemen gave material help in making the day as pleasurable to the children as possible, and Mr C. E. Bellringer, the secretary, worked indefatigably in carrying out his duties in the satisfactory way he did. The Temperance Brass Band, under Bandmaster Howell, played some excellent music during the day. .The picnicers returned to town in the evening well satisfied with the day's outing. A word of praise is due to . the Railway Department for the smooth manner in which the train airangements were carried out.
