ELECTION ADDRESS.

INGLEWOOD.

MR R. C. HUGHES AT MOTUROA. (from a correspondent.) A mooting of tho above electors was held at a house on the Barrett Road on Tuesday ovening, Dr Forster Wanstall being voted to the chair. After explaining the importance of the meeting 1 , and that an error of judgment in selecting a candidate who might be big in promises but useless •in performances, could not bo remedied for tho next three years, he said the candidato before them ho had personally known for several years, and was satisfied he would , if elected, not only do his utmost for the district, but would also command the respect of the House, a very important qualification in a representative. Mr Hughes, in a speech of over an hour, in an able mannor explained the political situation; our future policy, in which economy is our safeguard; and how the land, property, und incomo tax may be abolished. After answering sutisfuctorily I several questions, a vote of thanks to the candidate, proposed by Mr Gilbunks, and seconded by Mr W. J. Iloneyricld, Wiiw curried ; and a Hunilur compliment wub accorded the chairman, who urged the electors to be energetic in returning the bust man at the head of the poll, and drew their attention to ;i sensible letter in thu Herald that evening, signed " Honesty."
