POLICE COURT.

THIS JOA.-X. \ Continued from column 4.\ At 3 o'clock Hia Honor gave judgment that defendant Bhould pay 7b 6d per ■week until the child attained the age of 14 years, and also costs of the action. The Court rose.

THIS 3DA.Y. Friday, September 19. — Before C. C. Kettle, Esq., E.M. INGLEWOOD AFFILIATION CASE. WiUiam Lile was sued to support tho illegitimate child of Susan Bishell, of which he was alleged to be the father. Tho caso was partially heard a fortnight ago, when it was adjourned that further evidence could be obtained. Mr Hughes appeared for tho petitioner, and Mr Govett for the defendant. Thomas Brough, called, gave evidence as to conversations he had with Lilo about Susan Bishell and other matters connected ■with the case. This was the evidence for the petitioner. Mr Govett submitted there was not sufficient corroborative evidence of tho petitioner's evidence, and the dates sho gave were not consistent with facts. He would therefore ask His Worship's ruling if there was a case to answer before he called evidence. Mr Hughes contended that tho mother of the petitioner and the witness Brough had corroborated the petitioner's testimony. After some further discussion, Mr Hughes called the defendant, W. J. Lile, who said he had known Susan Bishell since September 19. Ho knew the date, as it was the day ho went to work as a butcher. He went for a walk a week afterwards. He went with the girl on the Sunda}' following. On tho Thursday and Friday following the first date he saw the girl, but only spoke to hor then. He had certain relations with her on the first occasion Evidence was called for tho defence, after which His Worship reserved his decision till 3 o'clock. (Left sitting.)
