«. DEATH OF MR J. SPERREY. fPER PRESS ASSOCIATION .j Wellington, September 18. — Mr J. Sperrey, Property Tax Commissioner, who has been ill for a short time, died last night, of meningitis supervening on gout. He was born in 1827, aud had a lengthy official experience in Otago. . He became Land Tax Commis ioner under Sir G. Grey's Government, ; and then Property lax Commissioner.
