OKATO.

[from our own correspondent.] August 27. — On Saturday evening last Mr J. D. Pope gave the popular lecture' on " Robert Emmet " to a very appreciative audience, who Wore quite carried away by the patriotic eloquence of the lecturer, especially in his introductory roraarks on Irish affairs and Irish patriotism. A graphic sketch of incidents and vicissitudos in the life of Robert Emmet was then given, but, unfortunately, he omitted the patriot's defence at the Bar. The lecture was reajlv a' fine display of oratory, and far ahead ofi-many to be heard daily in Westminster Hall. A few sentimental songs and recitations were also exceedingly well rendered. Another entertainment by! Mr Pope is announced for Friday evening, 29th inst. ■
