SCENE IN A MAD-HOUSE.
The inmates of the lunatic asylum at Bicetre, France, revolted on Thursday June sth, and the garrison was called in to rescue the keepers who had been hemmed in in the corridor. The mad« men secured razors and hammers in the keepers quarters into which they had broken. With these they fought like demons for half an hour. Windows wero broken and the place wrecked. The sight of the soldiers exasperated the lunatics and the directors dared not call on the military to act ; but the fire-engines were brougut out, and full streams played on the infuriated madmen, who soon huddled together in a corner oJ: the yard thoroughly drenched and bo completely cowed that they allowed themselves to be led back to their cellß without a murmur. Some who showed feeble signs of resistance were strait-jacketed.
