At a meeting of the Harbour Board, Mr Carr, the Engineer, reported that £2,040 had been over paid for rubble in the Harbor Works during the past seven months. The Board refused to pay Messrs Allison and Black's account for the last month, and will take legal advice with a view of recovering the over payment.

The Justice Department have called on Mr Bird, R,M. at Reefton, to resign, and has suspended him from taking any fresh duties. Mr Greenfield, R.M. and Warden at Collingwood, has been sent down to take up the work, pending the arrival of Mr Kenny, who succeeds Mr Bird.
