Adelaide, May 2. Mr Henry E. Downer has been appointed Attorney-General. The operations of the Assets Company, which has taken over the Commercial Bank's assets, are to be removed to New South Wales. Melbourne, May 1. The estate of James Miram, Secretary of the Permanent Building Association, which recently closed its doors, has been placed in liquidation. His liabilities are set down at £37o,000; assets £370,000. Two leading theatrical firms have been fined for employing children of tender years in their theatres. Sydney, May 1. At the court martial held on the ringleaders connected with the mutiny on board H.M.S. Egeria, Allen, a second class petty officer, for taking part in the mutiny among the men, was sentenced to five years penal servitude. Another case will be heard on Friday, and five more on Saturday. At the inquest on those killed in the recent railway accident at Bathurst, a verdict was returned that the cause was accidental. A rider was added recommending the use of side couplings, pending the fitting of the rolling stock with strong gear.
