ARRIVAL OF P.S. TERRANORA AT NELSON.
The p.s. Terranora arrived at the anchorage about 5 o'clock on Sunday evening, says the Nelson Colonist, and being lato for the tide, came to anchor. She was brought into harbor about 11 o'clock on Sunday night, and berthed alongside the Government whprf. The steamer left Newcastle, New* South Wales, on the morning of Friday, April 18th, so that her voyage occupied nine and a half days. She is a side wheel steamer of 199 tons register and waa built in Glasgow eleven years ago for the Clarence river trade, but was recently purchased by the Rev. Fathers Cassidy and Aherne, and having proceeded from the Clarence to Newcastle,, loaded with coal for Nelson, the greater portion of her cargo being for Mr J. S. Cross. She is commanded by Captain R. Scott, who is known in Nelson, lie having been captain of the barque Chaudiere. Tho Terranora is a vessel of considerable beam and of light draught, drawing only about six feet at the present time. During the voyage she consumed all the coal she had in her bunkers and five tons in addition, but under ordinary circumstances her consumption would be less. She has a nice little saloon with accommodation for about twenty, and a ladies' cabin in which there are four berths, as well as a fore cabin fitted for some 18 passengers. It is understood that she is intended to run up the West Coast, calling at Waitara and other places, and as her draught empty is only some three feet and her engines are disconnecting, she has advantages in working over shallow bars.
