Mkluouuxe, April 10. Sailed (yesterday) : Steamship Tc Anau for the Bluff. Sydney, April 10. The topic of the hour is the situation at Bourke. The Darling is still rising, and the crisis is expected to-night or to-morrow. It is thought the town will be safe if the embankment holds. The emergency entails unceasing watchfulness, as the l : neof earthwork is three miies in length. Nearly £7000 has been spent on the embankment. Fortunately the weather is beautiful. Women and children, laden with all their worldly goods, are leaving by every train. The loss of stock is enormous. On many stations not a single head is left alive. The llev. Father Cassidy and Eev. Father Ahearne (late of New Zealand, now of Graf ton) have purchased the steamer Terranora for the Fiji trade, which will be combined with the Church Missions trade.
