TOWN BOARD.

This Board held its usual monthly meeting in the Board's office on Tuesday. There v.<ere present Messrs J. C. Peach (chairman), H. W. Marsh, W. H. Franklyn, and G. S. Kennedy.

Outward correspondence : A letter to Mr Marchant, M.H.R. ; Mr Goodman, Dunedin, re insurance of Town Hall ; to Messrs Lamb, Cavanagh, and Priest ; to chairman of the Inglewood School Committee ; to the chairman of the Tarauaki County Council ; to Alexander Bell, saw mill proprietor. Inward correspondence : From Mr Bell ; Mr Goodman ; from Mrs Dale, Inglewood ; from Mrs Woodhead, re rent of cottage ; from Railway Department.

The chairman of rhe Inglewood School Committee stated that the committee were willing to accept the terms offered by the Inglewood Town Board re the drain and crossing to the school. The clerk was instructed to write again to the Taranaki County Council re Junction Baad. The clerk was also instructed to ascertain before the next meeting of the Board the cost of leases for five town board sections. The transfer of the town section from Mr T. Flintoff to Mr R. Collins, of Inglewood, was granted.. The further occupation of the cottage by Mrs Woodhead was granted, on condition that she pay the rates. The collector's report for the past month was read as follows: Balance in hand on October 1, 1889, 5s ; rates, 1887-88, Is 3d: do., 1888-89, Is 3d; Town Hall, 18s ; balance in hands of collector on October 31, 1889, £2 19s 6d.

The Clerk was instructed to write to the County Council and request that body not to renew any slaughtering license within the jurisdiction of the Inglewood Town Board. The Works Committee were instructed to see what repairs were required to the cottages belonging to the Board. Mr Kennedy reported that the plantation in Brook-street required cleaning. The following amount was passed for payment : £29 16s. This concluded the business.
