FALL OF A BUILDING IN GLASGOW During a heavy gale on Friday, a five storied factory in Glasgow collapsed, and in its fall crushed an adjoining carpet weaving shed, where 150 young girls were working. Forty of the girls were killed outright, eighteen were injured, and many are still to be accounted for. Numerous wonderful escapes are reported. PRAISING THE BRITISH. Athens, November 2. The German Emperor, while at lunch with the Admiral of the English fleet at Athens, spoke in terms of high praise of the British navy. RAILWAY COLLISION IN INDIA. Calcutta, November 2. A train near Agra, running into a siding, came into collision with the terminal buffers, and was derailed. Thirteen women and two children were killed, and forty other persons injured. CRONIN MURDER OASE. Chicago, November 2. At the Cronin murder trial, Gilberts, a Winnipeg convict, gave evidence to the effect that Burke had confessed to liim that he, Coughlin, Cooney, and O'Sullivan decoyed Dr Cronin into a cottage, and clubbed him the moment he entered. The body, he said, was thrown into Lake Michigan, and afterwards taken out and concealed in the street sewer. An ex-convict, who was examined, swore that two years ago Detective Coughlin tried to hire him to kill Dr. Cronin. The trial is not yet concluded.
