MR. NEWTON KING'S WEEKLY AUCTION AND PRODUCE REPORT. At the Haymarket, on Saturday, pigs were in keen demand, and good prices were realized for all lots; good slips made 10s, weaners 12s 6d. Only a few horses were sold at from £117 b6d to £3. At tho mart, fowls made lOd to Is 6d, ducks Is sd, turkeys 2s 7d, potatoes 2s to 3s (according to quality), damaged maize 2s 6d per bushel, wheat 2s 6d to 2s lOd, good bacon sd, inferior bacon 3|d, hams 4d to 4£d, cheese 4^d, sugar 2£d to 3d, rice 2£d, tea 14s. Sundries and furniture made rather low rates. Fruit. —At Monday's sale Island oranges made 10s, bananas 2£d, cocoanuts Is per dozen. Cattle. —At Inglewood, on Tuesday, there was a good muster of stock, and fair attendance. Young stock were in good demand, and every pen sold at the hammer after brisk competition. Dairy eattlo were dull of sale, and one pen of heifers and two or three cows were sent home. Calves made lls to 16s, mixed yearlings 18s to 20s, 15-months (mixed) 22s to 245, heifers in calf 27s to 30s, springing do. 40s to 52s 6d, cows 408 to 655, empty cows 30s. —At Omata, on Thursday, there was only a small muster of stock. Calves made 13s 6d, 18-monthß steers 30s. Cows under distress warrant made from £1 12s 6d to £4 12s 6d. At Pihama, on Wednesday, I held a clearing sale on account of Walter Read, Esq., the whole of his dairy of 90 cows coming under the hammer. Attendance fair, and bidding brisk, for good quality cows, horses, and traps sold at excellent prices. Good cows made £310s to £4 10s, milking' and backward £2 to £3, fat £3 ss, fresh £2 10a to £3, stores £112s 6d to £2, horses £5 to £8, screws £1 10s, express £18. Land. —The lease for 2 years of Mr Read's farm at Pihama was well competed for, and realised, under tho hammer, a rental of lls per acre. Produce. — Butter —Some difficulty is still experienced in getting space in many cases, half allotments being made. I hope soon to hear most satisfactory views to report. Potatoes are firmer.
