SAD, BUT TRUE.
Peisimistß genarally, and the retailers of " cheap" Continental and English watches in particalur, often go considerably oat ot their way to demonstrate that the " rage for the Waterbury is waning." Such is not tho case, however, as the Waterbury Watch Factory is still unable with all its increased iacilities to keep pace with the demand. Oat o£ the 35,000 Waterburys imported iuto New Zeakad during the lust two yesrs there ia uot a single case in tht bands oi. thfc Company's representtttive, who has been obliged during the past week to repurchase* & parcel from the New Zealand Hardware Company to temporarily supply the demand m Lhristelmrcb. until r^u next shipment arrireß. As an instance oi s be thirst for tht correct time in the vJtthedral City, we may mention that a gentleman who had not the necessary thirteen and sixpence to acquit e one in the usual way, tried " burgling" as a substitute, and will hare an opportunity of reflecting on the success of hi* enterprise during the three months of his " board and residenuo" in the o»mf ortablo gaol of that city. The watch is no doubt worth the sentence, bnt wo do not publish this as a premium tp burglary.
