INGLE WOOD.

[from oub own correspondent.] May 15. — A reception tea was given to the Rev. J. T. Pinfold on Tuesday evening in the Wesleyan Church. The rev. gentleman came to the district in place of the Rev. Mr Hudson, The tea was well patronised by the members and friends of the Church, who came from all parts of the district. After tea there was a public meeting held in the church, which wab bo crowded that many had no sitting; room. The chair was occupied by Mr J. C. Peach. Addresses were given by friendß from different parts of the district. After the addresses the chairman introduced the Rev. J. T. Pinfold to tbo mealing, when he was heartily received. I have heard that tea meetings have been held in other parts of the district; the object being to make the new clergyman acquainted with his Sock. TOWN BOARD. The Inglewood Town Board held its usual monthly meeting on Wednesday. Pieeent: Messrs J. C. Peach (chairman), T. Drake, jun., Q- S. Kennedy, and W. H. Franklyn. — A letter was read from Mr N. King, Btiiting that ho considered the charge for the crossing to bis sale yards at Inglewood wob too high. The Clerk was instructed to iuform Mr King that the Board had charged nothing more than they actually paid for the work, and which was at tho samo rate as hnd been paid for similar work in the township. — A lotter was received from the Borough Council of New Plymouth re harbor. — From Mr Cameron, asking permission to work in the Board's gra\ el pit from both Bides. — —From Mr R. Collins, Railway Hotel, Inglewood, requesting the Board to see to a disputed fence between his property and Mrs Hoskin's.— lt wub resolved, on the motion of Mr Franklyn, seconded by Mr Kennedy, tbut Mr Cameron's application cannot bo granted until Mr Paiket's contract is finished, and then to be further considered, — Resolved, that the Works Committee see t^ tht fence between Mr

Collinß' and Mrs Hoskin's properties. — The Chairman reported that the Works Committee had agreed with Mr Thomaß Giles re cattle ranger, and that he was to reoeive the whole of the driving fees. He also reported that the Karapati bridge was in a dangerous state, and ho had been informed by the Engineer that Mr Parker, the contractor, had put two chains of metal on Standish-stroet North instead of South.— lt was agreed that Mr Purker complete his contract on Standish-street South, and that he be allowed the same rate per chain for the two chainß of metal he put on Standish-street North. — It waa agraed that the Works Committee) purchase a rake to rake the gravel on the streets of the town. — The Collector's account for the past month was read, as folio wi:— Balance in hand, 31at March, 1889, £5 15s 4d; rates for 1888-9, 14s 6d; balance in Bank on 30th April, £8 4b Bd.— Resolved, on the motion of Mr Franklyn, that the Board's account be withdrawn from the Bank at New Plymoutk and placed in that of Inglewood.— Accounts passed for payment, £4 2s 6d. — This concluded the business.

CrEOM A COBRKSPONDEHTO

On Tuesday evening a reception teameeting was held in the Inglewood Wesleyan Church to welcome the Rev. J. T. Pinfold as circuit minister. After the tables had been oleared Mr J. 0. Peach took the chair. There was a large audience, the church b3ing filled. Addresses were delivered by Messrs J. R. Clark (Waitaro), Jackson and Taylor (Inglewood), Smith (Wortley Road), Kartz and Parkin (Waipuku). After which the Rev. Pinfold thanked the friends for their kindly words of welcome, and exhorted all to assist to their utmost in making his stay in the circuit a time of spiritual prosperity.
