+ — _ TARANAKI J. C. SUMMER MEETING. By the Gairloch this (Friday) morning the hurdle and flat racer Pretender arrived from Auckland, is charge of Mr Skirvmg, to fulfil his engagements here on Wednesday and Thursday next. Pretender is housed at the Red House stables. Clogs and Fragrance (a maiden racer) will arrive by the Wanaka to-morrow (Saturday) in charge ot Mr J. Rae. The jockeys Frewin and Katterns also arrived by the Gairloch. Other horses are expected from Auckland, including Shillelagh and Cushia. The acceptances and general entries close to-night (Friday). The totalisator at the meeting will be worked by Messrs Adams and Andrews, of Auckland, as their terms are more advantageous to the Club than those of Messrs Hill & Poole, the late workers of the machine.
