[from odr own correspondent.]

A TRAP ACCIDENT.

November 1. — An accident happened to Mr George Kenyon, while driving; home in his trap with his wife and child and a young lady. When he waa going up n Blight incline a little beyond Mr Adlaru's gate, something caused tbr horse, at a very dangerous part of the road, to run back. The driver jumped out, as also did the young lady; but Mvs Eenyon remained in the trap with her child. The horse backed the trap ovor the embankment and into a swamp, but as he wont steadily the Tehiole was not capsized, and no damage done nor was anyone hurt. Thsy all, however, were frightened. Mrs Konjon's cries brought Mr Adlam's boy down. He was ridine: afttr cattle at tho time, and he rode off for assistance. Mr C. McGuinness, Mr MaoDonnld (the County overseer), and another gentleman who were comiog along that way rendered every assistance, and pulled the trap up the bank, and setting everything right again, but it was a miraole how the trap went over the bank without a serious accident occuring. The bank is from 20 to 25 feet in height, and in a very dangerous position. The weather has been very rough this way lately — windy, wet, and cold, keeping the grass back, and blighting everything it sweeps over. The Government valuator bus been around, and although he has reduced a little, I don't think be has come down so much aB he ought to have done. If he bad to make a living off some of the land be would, I think, reduce it more. No one knowß what land is worth except those who work it ; and much of the land round this district is very poor, and only worth half what it is valued at.
