POLICE COURT. THIS DAY.
Saturday, September 15.— Before 0. E. Raweon, Esq., R.M. ALLEGED FALSE PRETENCES. Henry and Albert Laxton, two young men, appeared under arrest charged with having obtained money at Blenheim on September 4th under fulee pretences. Mr Pardy stated that the young men had been arrested on Friday, inland of Stratford, by Serg9nnt Day on the present charge, information of which bad been received from Blenheim. The fsots of the case, so far as he was aware, were these : The men, who had been rabbiting near Blenboim, took an order for £6 la 81 to Messrs Pickering & Go., of that town, and got it cashed, but Bomehow (the clerk who cashed it oould not day in what manner) tho young men got hold of the order again, perhaps took it off the counter. Acoording to information these young men gave tho order lo a man named Hogg to cash, giving him £1 for his trouble. Hogg did not go to Pickeriaq & Co. to cash the order, but to a publican ! named O'Sullivan, who cashed it, but on presenting the order ho found it bad already been met. Htgg wan arrested in 31enheim, and was on romand now awaiting the arrival of the two Luxtons. In this case he would üßk His Worship to remand the aocused to Blenheim, whithet they could be sent at tho earliest oppoitutunity. His Worship then remanded tho accused to Blenheim, for which place they will leave by the Rotorua oa Tuesday. Tbe Court rose,
