HOSPITAL AND CHARTABLE AIDBOARD, .

The Hospital and Charitable Aid Board met on Wednesday. Present : — Messrs Bellringer (Chairman), Dookrill, J. Elliot, T. Elliot, Malone, I. Bayly, and Price. Resignation :— Mr E. Godsal wrote resigning his seat on the Board. The tesigßation was accepted, and a resolution passod appointing Mr A. C. Milne of Otnkeho to tho vacancy. Erection of Neio Hospital— The Chairman called the attention of the Board to a paraernph in tho Taranaki Hbbald in reference to the Inppeotor's Report on the new bospitul. — After some discussion Mr Dookbill moved, " That tho attention of the Premier be called to that portion of Dr. Macgregor'e report, wherein he has made certain allegations in reference to the erection of the new hospital, and that the Board request that the matter be enquired into, with a view to giving the circumstances connected with the matter fall publicity."— -Seconded by Mr Major. — Further discussion took place, when the above was withdrawn, and the following moved by Mr Dockrill, " That the attention of the Premier be drawn to that part of Dr. Macpregor's report which states that the Chairman of the Board was surety for tho contractor of the new hospital, aad that he be informed that this statement is contrary to the fact, and that he •be requested to have the report amended." — Seconded by Mr Malonb, and carried. Admitting to Hospital —Mr Malone brought up the question of admitting patients to the Hospital without an order from a member of the Board in case of urgent cases. — After home discussion a copy of the by-lawa wns to be Bent to every local Board in tho district, so that it could be seen that urgent cases can bo admitted any time without an order. Assistance — Mr E. Maunders, of Okaiawa, wrote pointing out the urgent need of some allowance being allowed Mrs Clemonts of that place — 103 per week from August Ist will be granted. Normanby. — A letter was received from tLe Inspector's office enclosing a letter from the Normanby Town Board, asking that someone should be authorised at Normanby to issue orders on hospital and charitable aid list. — A copy of the by-laws will be sent showing that urgent cases can always be sent in without an order. Haioera County. — A cheque for £118 9s 6d, being three months contribution, was received. Subsidy.— Ths Bank of New Zealand acquainted the Board with receipt from P»ymsßt(r-General of £369 33 7d, being June quarter cf subsidy. Hawera Borough. — Hawera Borons, h forwarded cheque for £5 4s lid, being July contribution. Maintenance Account. — The question of getting in the outstanding accounts for hospital maintenance, etc , was referred to the Finance Committee to report on at next meeting. A Disputed Account. — Mr. C. Bayley, Chairman of the Normanby Town Board , wrote with reference to an account owing for ■ hospital maintenance by one Andrew Wilson, who attempted to poison himself. — Tho Board divided on the question of paying the accounts, £4 19s 9d, that had | been contracted, Messrs Elliot and Major j voting against the rest of the Board on tbo motion, which was carried. Diphllier a —Dr. O'Carroll attended the ueetin?, and reported that a case of diphtheria had broken out in She hospital, and that the case required isolation. — The matter was left to the House Committee to deal£witb. Arcounts. - Hospital, £149 15* 21; Charitable Aid, £79 15s Id, were passed for payment. Tho Board adjourned.
