LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Wkdnks-dat, August 8. — The DeputySpeaker took the chair at 2 30 p.m. The Mining Act, 1886, Amendment Bill and the Land Act Amendment Bill wore forwarded a stage. The adjourned debate on the Fair Rent Bill was continued by Dr Pollen, who moved, "That it be read this day bix months." The debate waß interrupted by tbe dinner adjournment at 5.30 p.m. On iho Council resuming, tbe debate on the Fair Rent of Land Bill was resumed, and was eventually thrown out on division by 22 to 5. 'The Council then rose.
