SUICIDE OF CHARLES QUIN.
ADDITIONAL PARTICULARS. Charles Quin, of Normanby, who shot himself through the head with a revolver at half-past 12 o'clock on Saturday, died about a quarter to five o'clock tho same day. Sergeant Anderson, of Hawera, found a letter on tho deceased, which stated his reasons for committing the act. These reasons are understood to be pecuniary difficulties. An inquest was held before Captain Wray at 3 o'clock to-day, The deceased, who was a largo land owner, had been resident in tho district for some years pust, having come from somewhere near Invercargill, where it is said that ho held property at the time of his demise, lie was a man between 50 and G3 years of age. jj^lt seems that Quin shot himself in the right ear with a bulldog revolver, in a plantation near his house, where he was found lying on his face by one o£ tha youngest of his children, who thought ho was sleeping. When his eldest son John arrived be found his father as described, clutching a revolver in hw right hand. The weapon had three out of the five chambers loaded. Quin lingered on, although never conscious, until a little after half-past four o'clock. A man named Walker states that he heard the shot which must have been the one that ended Quin's life. Tho written Btatement found on his body gives, it is said, an account of his troubles. A PreßS Association telegram states that C. Quin was about 55 years of aga. Lie ! was suffering from sleeplessness and mental worries connected with monetary affairs. Uh mental state had caused anxiety to his friends for some days.
