Sir Miohael Hicks-Beach has been pronounced by his medical advisers as able to resume his duties. DSATII OF BERESFORD HOPE. The death is announced at the age of 67 of the Bight Hon. Alexander James Beresford Hope, Privy Councillor, and lylember of Parliament for Cambridge University. ANOTHER UNEMPLOYED DEMONSTRATION. Another unemployed demonstration took place in Hyde Park to-day, when the usual inflammatory speeches were delivered. A deputation was sent to Mr. Matthews, the Home Secretary, who accorded them a private interview. The mob proceeded to Piccadilly, but the police charged the crowd and dispersed it. RELIEF FOR UNEMPLOYED. The Lord Mayor has summoned the members of the last Mansion House Unemployed Belief Committee to consider what measures can bo adopted towards alleviating the present distress in London. WESTERN AUSTRALIA. The St. James 1 Gazette considers it unjust of the Empire to grant an enormous territory to the handful of settlers in Western Australia. TRAINING SHIP ASHORE. H.M.S. Britannia, training ship, went ashore near the Nore, but has been floated off uninjured. BRITISH IN AFRICA. British protection will be extended to the Niger districts. LIBERALS LOST GROUND. Speaking at a Liberal conference at Nottingham, Mr. Gladstone admitted that the Liberals had terribly lost ground, and complained of a servile Parliament. The coercion of Ireland had distinctly failed. SPRSAD OF REBELLION. Mr. Goscheu, Chancellor of the Exchequer, speaking at Bradford, dwelt at length on the profligate incitement of Mr. Gladstone's language, and said the anarohio doctrines advocated for Ireland would extend elsewhere. ANOTHER SCULLING MATCH. Bubear has accepted Teemer's challenge to row for the championship of England. PROTECTION IN ENGLAND. Lord Dunraven, speaking at Stockport, said Protection was a question of vital importance to Great Britain and the colonies. .Disruption of the Empire would commenoe when the oolonies were driven to conclude commercial treaties with Foreign Powers.
