WAITOA GOLDFIELD.
Auckland, October 21.
Mr. Deerwood, of Christchurch, in the course of an interview at the Waitoa goldfield, expressed his|opinion that tho stuff had been tamperedjwith. The field may still prove payable. A large test will be made with tailings plant at the Thames.
RETRENCHMENT IN DUNEDIN.
Dunedtn, October 21.
The Harbour Board yesterday adopted a comprehensive scheme for retrenchment, including dispensing with the collector of dues, master of tug, etc.
