[PBESS ASSOCIATION.] WAITOA GOLDFIM.D. Thames, October 18. Mr. Montgomery, of the School of Mines at the Thames, has made 17 assays from samples of deposit from Smith's Waitoa property and other places in the district, and in all of them he only found a trace of gold. He says they are worthless. RISE IN GALVANISED IRON. "Wellington, October 18. A private cablegram received from Bristol, England, is as follows, dated 15th inst.: — " The galvanised iron market is very firm, with an upward tendency. The present price of 26 gauge is £14 f.o.b. at London.
