POST AND TELEGRAPH DEPARTMENT.
The annual report of the Post Office and Telegraph Department has been presented to Parliament. It states that the year's business was satisfactory, and showed an increase of 3 per cent., while the expenditure was lesß than 1 per cent, larger than tbe previous year. The balance of revenue In excess of expenditure was £14,167, being nearly double that of the year before. Tbe gratuitous work performed for Government departments by the Post Office and Telegraph represented a value of no It sb than £102,887. During the 5 ear 38,084,592 letters and 1,836,266 telegrams were dealt wilb.
