HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.

Friday, October 14.— The Uouso met at 2 30 p.m. In reply to questions, it was stated that | daily return tickets could not be granted from and to all stations without further consideration; that the Naval and Military Settlers and Volunteers Land Bill would bo re-introduced this session; that the Government would consider the advisableness of burning firewood in locomotives on the New Zealand railway lines in tho bush districts; that enquiries were being made whether the future Governor of New Zealand could be elected by the colonists; that if it were posssibie to relieve gaol warders of the duty of flogging prisoners it would be done; that the question of letting working men travel on tho railways at reduced rates would be considered; that Forwood, the absconding solicitor from Auckland, would bo brought back from Melbourne as soon as possible. Major Atkinson moved that the House at its rising adjourn till Friday, 28th inst., at 7.30 p.m. Sir J. Yogel Btrongly opposed the adjournment. He said such a thing had never occurred as to stop all business of the House because the Treasurer wished to prepare his Financial Statement. He should noc, however, divide the House on the question. A lengthy discussion followed. The motion was eventually carried on the voices, On the House lesuming at 7,30 p.m., The Imprest Supply Bill for £150,000, and Sub-revenues Amendment Bill, to enable £50,000 of defliciency bills to be issued, were passed through all stages. Mr. O'Connor moved for all the papers regarding the Westport Harbor Board. The Premier seid the Government intended to appoint a Committee of Enquiry, as the affairs of the Board were in a most unsatisfactory state. The House rose at 8 p.m., till Friday fortnight.
