MISS MARIBEL GREENWOOD.

This young lady will form one of the principal attractions at the concert to bs given in the Alexandra Hall on Friday next by the Greenwood Family. Edouard Remenyi, the celebrated violinist, who was here, writing about her, says :—": — " The other evening, when the Auckland girl played with me Mozart's Sonata (now you know that her name is Maribel Greenwood), I observed her very closely — I observed her continually — that is, before we went on the stage. It did not matter what movement Bhe did — standing or Bitting— it was always tragedy. It was always a Greeh statue, in spite of her short dress, and being unconscious of my observing her, I added to my imagination the long-folding, graceful toga, and tragedy was always there, and sublimely sculptural it was. I could scarcely take off my eyes from those natural and Phydeas-like poses. Now, gentle reader, take my word for it, you have in your picturesque town a girl of whom the world will speak. lam a pretty good guesser in art matters, and was a tolerably good prognoßticator for many an artist in embryo, of whom the world speaks now — and I am absolutely sure of Maribel Greenwood. May her parents rejoice, and especially her grandlygifted mother, and may Maribel Greenwood, reading this article, not become conceited, but take her Heaven born genius with modesty, and all she has to do is to study, and study, and Btudy Bteadily — the rest her genius will do. She is scarcely more yet than a child ; she is not in need; therefore, let me recommend her to study with devotion all matters of {esthetics, the works of tho great painters, the great dramatic authors, the Shakespoarea, the iEschiloe, the Schillers, the U-oethes, the Moiieres, and tho Corneilles, an I with all those glorious masters study continually the immortal Greek sculptures. May God help her on the glorious career which is before her ia tho sincero wish of Edouard Heiuenyi."
