THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION.

The member in the Cabinet representing Wellington is Mr. George Fisher. He entered Parliament first in 1884. He is a vigorous and powerful debater, and is rather a startling instance of what a man can do for himself. Only a few years ago he worked as a compositor in the Wellington Government Printing Office, and since chen ha has been a City Councillor for four years, and Mayor four consecutive years, having retired from the latter in 1885. In 1884 he beat Mr. Hutchison for South Wellington, and at tho last election he was returned by over four hundred majority. La 1884 the first session he was in the Mansard gallery. As Mayor he did wonderfully good work for the city, and, though personally not popular, he is generally admired aB an able mau here, and his inclusion in the Government is very well received.
