POLITICAL GOSSIP IN WELLINGTON. (TELEGRAPHED BY OUB COBEKSPONDENT.) OPENING OF PARLIAMENT. Parliament was opened at two o'clock by Commission, and Tuesday, at 2.30 p.m., was appointed as the time for hearing the Governor's Bpeecb. The members of the Lower House will be sworn in in batches of three at a time, and the next business will be the election of a Speaker. There is a large attendance of. members, nearly all being present. The weather is fine, but in consequence of Parliament not being opened in the usual way, there is not a large attendance of the public. ELECTION OF SPEAKER. Sir M. O'Rorke was elected Speaker on the motion of Mr. Lance, seconded by Mr. Pearson.
