NEW ZEALAND BOWLING ASSOCIATION.
A meeting of the committee of tbe above Association was held in the Grand Hotel, Dunedin, on September 29. Present : — Messrs. J. L. Batterworth, John Ross, W. Dawson , G. Capstick, J. Gurle, Thomas Oallender, A. Mowatt, J. H. Morrison, and J. Yates. ' The following returns of delegates appointed were received :— Dunedin Clab, Messrs. Butterworth and Callender ; Caledonian Club, Messrs. Dawson. and Capstick; Roslyn Club, Messrs. Curie and Carlton; Balclutha, Messrs. Reunert ani Callender; Lawrence Club, Messrs. Harrop and Chalmers; Invercaigill, Messrs. Mitchell and Callender; Oainarn Club, Messrs. Mowatt and Dowling; Christchurch Club, Mr. J. H. Morrison nnd Hon. J. T. Peacock; Canterbury Club, Messrs. B. Hale and Yates; Auckland Club, Messrs. J. Ross, and Winks; New Plymouth, Messrs. Ross and J. Paul. Mr. J. L. Butterworth wns unanimously elected President, and in returning thanks said be bad much pleasure in beiuir present on this occasion — thp opening of tho 80ii8i»n of the New Zealand Bowling Aesooiation — and be wished the Assoefotion every success. It was satisfactory to see the r 6ady responses from the cluba all through the colony, and he hoped that they would be favoured with genial weather, and that all games and matches might be played in a manly and proper spirit, tie bad to submit certain details ia connection with the work of the Association, which he hoped would receive due consideration. He concluded by again thanking them for the high compliment they had paid him by electing him/the President of the Association. Messrs. Curie and Capstick were reelected treasurer and secretary respectively. MEDAL HATCHES. The following ia the result of the draws :— Canterbury play Caledonian at Oatnaru Oamaru play Dunedin at Caledonian Balclutha plays Roslyn ( at Milton Christchurchplay Lawrence at Dunedin Milton play Invercargill at Balclutha Auckland play New Plymouth at New Plymouth.
It was resolved that a tournament bo played at Christcharch next season, and that a second one be played at Dunedin ; the entrance fee for each rink to be ss, and no club to be allowed to enter less than two rinks; that single-banded matches be also played at Christchurch and Dunedin, entrance fee ss; also that a match between the North and South Islands be played during the tournament week at (Jbristchurch.
The following were elected a committee for the Christchnrch tournament : — Hon. J. T. Peacock, B. Bale, and T. Callender; and for the Daaedin tournament : Messrs. Dawson, Mo watt, and T. Calender. It was decided to write to the secretaries ef the New South Wales and Victorian Bowling Associations intimating that this Association would do its utmost to eenrt four ricks to their Association matches. It was also resolved that the secretary write to the New South Wales and Victorian Bowling Associations to make arrangements for the New Zealand players being allowed to play with one foot on tbe mat, the other foot not to be placed on either side of the mat; also, that while a player is ia the act of playing, no one shall be allowed to walk up or cross tbe rink.
