Dividend £2 18s. This concluded the first day'B meeting, which was remarkable for good racing, fine weather, and a smaller attendance than usual of country people. SECOND DAY— Friday. The success of to-day's , meeting was much marred by the wet weather. The morning begun with occasional drizzly showers, but at about the time for commencing proceedings quite a heavy downpour set in, and the couple of hundred people who had collected on the ground were dispersed to whatever shelter was available. Shortly after this, however, the rain cleared off a bit, and things took on a more hopeful appearance. The officers of the Club should be complimented on the completeness of their arrangements, and Mr. Paul's resumption of the onerous post of secretary waa marked by expressions of general satisfaction at the management. Captain Mace, as starter, and Messrs. Bauchope, W. Newman, ani Ellis, as stewards, contributed to earning for the meeting the distinction of being one of the best conducted in the colony. Towards the afternoon the attendance became more satisfactory, and as the eva came out matters became more cheerful. The Town Band were again oa the ground, and contributed, removing the depreisioa caused by the damp. • Handicap HusdliKS, of 60 soys— Nbmiuatioa, 1 6ov ; acceptance, 2 soys ; nine jumps.
