THE EASTER ENCAMPMENT.
The Auckland Star says :—": — " An impression appears to prevail in Wans<anui and New Plymouth that the proposed Taranaki encampment was abandoned in const quence of the refusal of the Auckland Volunteers to take part. Such is not the case. The change in the arrangements was made by Colonel Wiiitm'ore without even consulting the officers of the Auckland garrison. In this matter the local Volunteers have been very cavalierly treated. They were repeatedly promised an encampment of their own, but in the face of these promises the locale of the encampment was changed to Taranaki. The Auckland Voluateers objected, and only fell in with the new arrangements under preasure. Now the whole scheme has been upset again, and the Auckland Volunteers are as much in the dark as their comrades in \Vanganui and Tufanaki respecting the motives which actuated the change. I
