LATE SOCIALISTIC MEETING.
London, February 10.
Sir Charles Warren, the chief of the Metropolitan Police, has contradicted the report that on the occasion of the Socialistic meeting at Olerkeuwell a body of roughs pillaged several of the shops in the neighborhood. IMPROVEMENT OF FRENCH NAVY. The French Chamber of Deputies has voted thirty million francs for increasing and improviug the French navy. POSTAGE TO COLONIES. The Associated Chambers of Commerce have resolved to nrge Mr. Cecil Baikes, the Fostmater- General, to reduce the rates of postage to the colonies. MASSOWAH FORTS THREATENED. Rasaloula threatens to destroy the forts at Massowah, and in oonsequence reinforcements have been dispatched there. POPE HELPING GERMANY. Beblin, February 9. The Pope has issued another dispatch to the lioman Catholic electors, and again enjoins them to support those candidates who will support the Increase of Army Bill.
