BEACH, THE CHAMPION SCULLER
TO TUB EDITOR.
Sir, — Tho account of the sculling raco betweun Beaoh and Teemer ia the Herald of Friday rather amuses mo, and I think will do so to anyone else who takes an interest m sculling and at nil understands . it. The idea of " Pogasus " saying " Bench is tho best man seen on the Thames since Renforth." The same writer made a sim ilar remark about Hanlan when he swooped down upon England a few years ago, and astonished the world with his phenomenal rowing. Besides, it is impossible to say whether Beach is to be compared with Renfortb, or vice-versa, as Renforth was champion when tho old fixed seats wero in vogue, while Beach and all modern oarsmen use the sliding seat. — I am, &c, Twickenham.
