Further advices have beeu received from Mr. McDonald, the New Hebrides Missionary, who reports that a French Company is fencing through the lands belonging to the Presbyterian Mission, of which the Synod trustees hold a perfect title. The French Commandant claimed compensation aud threatened to burn- the houses on the Mission land on the most hollow pretext. Mr. McDonald had appealed to Admiral Tryon for the protection of the Mission.
