' ADMINISTRATION OF NEW GUINEA.

London, Septembers. Mr. Garrick, Agant- General of Queensland, had an interview yesterday with -Mr. Edvdard Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colonies, who informed him that a scheme for the joint administration of New Guinea by the Governments of Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria would shortly be submitted to the Cabinet.

NEW'IIEBRIDES QUESTION.

London, September 6. In the House of Commons, to-day, Hon. Edward Stanhope, Secretary of State for the Colonies, in reply to a question, stated he entertained strong hopes that a settlement of the New Hebrides question favorable to the Australian Colonies would be arrived at with France at an early date.
