THE INGLEWOOD SCHOOL GROUND.
At the Education Board meeting to-day j the following letter was read from j Mr. H. BrWn,* Chairman of the Inglewood I Town Board ; — "By resolution of the j Inglewood Town v Board, as Board of Health for f tfte Town District of Inglewood, a£ a (fleeting of the sdid Board held j on Ist September instant, I' am instructed to draw'yotir attention \o sub-se6tion 1 of sections 6 of v tne Public Health' Act 1876, and to inform you that the state o£ tho .Inglewood school ground at the' present, time constitutes a nuisance within the meaning of the above Act. I- am further instructed to give you notice, in compliance with section 59 of the same Act, that the nuisance above referred to, namely the stagnant water lying on the school ground, must be abated within ten days of that date." The Education Board,' on Mr. Bauchop'k's motioD, seconded by Mr. Wade, it was decided, "That the receipt of the letter from tha Chairman of tho Inglewood Town Board with respect to an alleged nuisance in tho Inglewood school grounds be acknowledged, and that he be informed that as soon as the weather permits and the Board is in funds the matter will be attended to." The Inglewood School Committee sent a letter from Mr. Grant, teacher, who stated "It is impossible to get into the building without getting over the ankles in mud." " Our attendance ia falling off frightfully, and all through the state of the ground." The Committee added that they "hare already spent £18 stumping, £1 Bs. making the approach to the doorways, and some pounds in making the watortanks serviceable. In reference to these letters, the Education Board resolved, on Mr. Faoll's motion, seconded by Mr. Wade, " That the Board on the ,28th July authorised tho r architect to , expend the sum of £4 on gravelling the footpath to the school, and that officer made arrangements with tho Ob'airWn of the School Committee and the contractor, Mr. Laing, to do tho work ; the responsibility of delay, theroforo, rests with the Committee, and i the Board is surprised the work has not been done."
