GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF NEW ZEALAND.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. Fbiday, July 16. — The Council met at 2.30 p.m. Mr. Reynolds moved the second reeding of ths Civil Service Reform Bill, and, at some length, emplained the proposod meanure. Dr. Pollen strongly opposed the bill, and counselled Mr. Reynolds to consign it to the waste-paper basket. Mr. Mantel! moved the second reading that day six months. Sir F. Whittaker moved tho adjournment of the dobato to Tuesday. The motion for adjournment was agreed to. The Local Bodies' Loans Bill was read a third time, and passed. Tho Council adjourned to Friday next.
