[I'ER ritESS ASSOCIATION.] ROTOMAHANA AGAIN ON THE BURST. Kotorua, July 9. Yesterday morning there was shot up from Eotomahana a large column of steam, mud, and stones to the height of 15,000 feet. It lasted for ten minutes. Some anxiety is felt for the safety of the exploring party in the vicinity. The clouds were seen at To Aroha. NO LOOSE CASH. CmusTcuußcu, July 9. The Mayor called a rneGtiug to consider the question of relief for sufferers by the Tarawera eruptiou. Tho only person present was the Dean of Ohristchurch. It appears to be the general impression that loose cash is scarce here just now, aud that there has been a good many calls upon the purses of the charitable.
Summonses against twenty owners of unregistered dogs wero taken out to-daj' at the instigation of tho Taranaki County C)iincil. Tho addresses of the unfortunitcs are Bell Block, Inglowood, Junction Road, ami Tariki Road. Tho cases are to bo heard on tho 19th instant. Tho Taranaki County Council have, according to the county overseer, eight3 r -iivo miles of road under its control, viz., 41 miles south of New Plymouth; 10 miles to Waitara; 2-4 miles ot tho Mountain Road, mil 10 miles of tho Junction Road. Tho only unmotalled part of these lengths of roa'lwny is a section of 4 miles between Waitara and Sentry Hill. Ib will bo remembered that operations at the breakwater have been suspended during the last week or two, owing to tho funds remaining from tho loan having been exhaustod. All tho men who had been engngod on tho works, oxcept the tradesmen, tho quarryrnen, and four hands for placing stones over the side, had, in 1 consequcnoo, be^n dispensed with, but v number of them .ire to be taken on again 1 next week.
