TWO ' SCHOLARSHIPS of the annual value of One Hundred Pounds each, tenable for three years, will be awarded in November next, . . , These Scholarships are open to all persons born in tbe Colony of New Zealand, who, at tke time of examination, shall be between the ages of sixteen and twenty years, and who shall satisfy the Council that they would not be able to obtain a University education ■ withbut pecuniary aid. Candidates must pass a preliminary examination in elementary mathematics ; and each Candidate will be examined in t\yo or three:, of the following jsnbjebts :— (1) Chemistry, (2). Phyßics, ' (3)' (Zoology, (4) Botany, (5) Geology. Special weight will be given to attainments and capacity in Zoology and Botany for tbe Sinclair Scholarship, and in Ohemistry and Electricity for the Gillies Scholarship. The names of Candidates and the subjects which they select must be notified on or before the first day of October, to the Registrar, from whom further informs ion may be obtained.
