SHIPMENT OF CHEESE TO ENGLAND,

Referring to the shipments o£ cheeso by the c.9. Kaikourn, the Akaroa Mail says :—: — The prices realised vary considerably from 455. to 60s. per cwt., according to quality and condition. The top price, 605., was got by a resident in Robinson's Bay, Messrs. Page & Son's report on it being that '' it was cleiiu flavoured and o£ rich quality." This proves that we can send Home an article that cm bo sold at an excellent price, for this shipment gave a clear b\i\ per lb to its owneraf ter paying expenses. Tho price too, is the same as the highest prices for extra fine American in Liverpool. We quote tho prices o£ American cheese in the market, taken from the Lioerpool Weekly Pout of February 21st "Cheese, 112lbs—U.S. extra, 563 to GOs; food to fine, 38s to 40s; middling, 28s to 355; ordinary, 103 to 203." This great diversity of piices shnvs that it is only really good cheess that will pay to go Honie, not that there is any reason that nil the cheese need not bo of. equal piime quality, for all the cows have similar pas'ure.
